DairyNZ is advocating for fair and scientifically robust targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We also seek a regulatory environment that enables dairy farmers to easily adopt mitigation technologies as they become available.

In May 2024, Environment Southland's Water and Land Plan became final apart from a few minor issues. Plan Change Tuatahi, a broader water management plan, has been delayed until 2027. Farmers now need to check and see which new rules apply to them.

Northland Regional Council (NRC) has consulted on a new draft Regional Plan that will affect your farm business. Dairy NZ is working on your behalf to represent the views of the dairy and primary sectors, and our rural communities to the council.

DairyNZ has been advocating on behalf of dairy farmers in the Waikato Region on Plan Change 1, which will introduce new rules and requirements to improve water quality in the Waikato and Waipā catchments.
