To maintain your Certified Body Condition Score Assessor status you need to attend a calibration event annually after passing the BCS assessment. A calibration event is for those currently certified and those whose certification has lapsed within the last 2 years. If your certification lapsed more than 2 years ago you will need to sit an assessment.
These calibration workshops are run by our Calibration Assessors and take place regionally throughout the year.
Recently upgraded your phone and can't download the BCS apps?
After an extensive investigation into our BCS tracker and BCS calibration apps, we are not able to update the app to function on newer IOS or Android. We know this is very disappointing and inconvenient, but we are unable to progress. We have made the decision to migrate the app onto a newer platform which would enable downloads on newer IOS or Android, however this could take up to 6 months to complete. In the meantime we can offer the manual version to assist with scoring.
A calibration event is attendance based (opposed to pass/fail), it will take approximately 2.5 hours and will consist of:
- a hands-on component and
- a paddock scoring component
- discussion around the process of body conditions scoring
- participants will submit their average herd scores for the paddock scoring component to the Calibration Assessor and if there is evidence of drift participants will need to repeat the paddock scoring component
- a report comparing participant scores to model scores will be sent within 2 weeks of the calibration event.
The spring BCS events are here. See below for event dates and registration details. There is a fee to attend these events, which your assessor will advise you of on registration.
